Local Article on Heartland

Heartland local Article

I e-mailed our contact at Hsv Times to see if he was aware of this spectacular news and he hadn't heard about it, so he quickly pulled together this article and contacted Jason to get a few words. Guess that's just the PR in me :) I get it from my daddy! :) The guys are hoping to contact Country Weekly to get something in their magazine. I sure don't know ANY other country artists that have had this honor :)Let's hope this is just the beginning!

Heartland's song has made it to SPACE...

We got several text messages this past weekend about "I loved her first" being played in space, so I went online Sunday night to see if that was true and it was here is the article I found. HOW AWESOME

Shuttle Crew Wake up for Fifth Spacewalk Day
22 March 2008 12:52 p.m. EDT

HOUSTON - Astronauts aboard NASA's shuttle Endeavour are awake and alert for their record fifth spacewalk in a single flight at the International Space Station (ISS).

Mission Control here at NASA's Johnson Space Center woke the crew at 12:28 p.m. EDT (1628 GMT) with the song "I Loved Her First" by the band Heartland, a song about a father and his daughter played for Endeavour skipper Dominic Gorie.

"Good morning Endeavour, and good morning to you Dom," NASA astronaut Alvin Drew radioed up to the shuttle crew.

"Good morning, Houston, and recently my daughter just got engaged so that song so very special to us," said Gorie, of his daughter Kimberly. "Baby, I love you and wish you the very best."

Gorie and his crew are gearing up for their fifth spacewalk outside the ISS, an excursion by Robert Behnken and Mike Foreman to relocate Endeavour's inspection boom to the station exterior and inspect the outpost's balky starboard solar array joint.

"Thanks for that great song, wonderful morning here for Bob and Mike to get up and get going on a spacewalk, number five out of five," Gorie said. "It's going to be a great one."

Easter Saturday at the Alberts

We woke up to a BEAUTIFUL Easter Saturday! Since everyone (family) had things going on Sunday and there was a chance of rain, we celebrated the holiday a day earlier. We started with some good music- courtesy of DJ Bob- and we all enjoyed my hammock for a while. Kelson stayed with Aunt Nin the night before- we partied at Ruggby's- so she was bringing her over around noon and we were all ancy to have her back with us. It was hilarious. It was like we didn't know what to do without her :) So anyways, the ladies fixed YUMMY appetizers and we nibbled on those for a few hours before dinner. We played a Slap Nuts tournament- Daddy and Mommy ended up winning two games and were the champions. Way to go- esp since mom had never played. I was on a team with Aline and even though she was new to the game, she did great too. Slap Nuts is so much fun and harder than it looks. From the pics you can prob understand it. Each team gets three ropes- which the ropes have golf balls tied to the ends of each side. The point of the game is to try to swing the ropes around the three tiered poles. Top level is 1 pt, middle level is 2 pts, bottom is 3 pts. Depending on what you want you can play to either 15 or 21. Its so much fun. Rob and Jason made the one we have.
While we were having festivies, Kelson and I decided to color eggs. We had so much fun doing this- she got OVER IT rather quickly, but we had a fun time while it lasted. She was trying to overturn the bowls of color, but I managed to keep her back enough. We colored about 2 doz eggs. Elliot- Louise's grandson would have partaked, but he was out of town with his mommy. coloring eggs was so much fun and really brought me back to when I was a little kid. We LOVED to color eggs. Now they have so many options too. Tattoos for your eggs, bright colors, stickers, etc.. I hope that tradition never dies!!! Louise and Mom wrote everyone's name on an egg and hid them while we played more games. So we had an adult easter egg hunt- we had to find our own egg and the surprise was: NO WASHING DISHES for dinner. Well Macie- Heather- our neighbor's little girl- found Kelson's right away for me. Then it took me a few min, but I found mine. They did some GREAT hiding, cause Bob never found his until I hinted where it was. It was fun watching all these adults hunting eggs. Wish I would have gotten some pics, but I was busy hunting myself. Chris was the loser- hehe! We had a great time and about that time it was getting dark and time for dinner. We ate a wonderful smoked ham and scalloped potatoes. I was craving some dessert so after Aunt Weeza and Memere Lucy took Grand Memere back to the home, they picked up some HOT donuts for us. YUM! We watched "Enchanted" - cute cute movie and ate donuts. Great way to end the night.See more Easter Weekend Pics

Baby Shower for Michele...

Natasha, Stacey, Lynn, Karen, and I all hosted an AWESOME baby shower for Michele on March 16th. We had a great time getting all the details done and decor ideas together. There was so much awesome food- I think several recipes were given- hehe- and the block cake was a huge hit. It was made my Stacey's sister. If you are looking for a unique cake- contact Stacey. She's great- and it tasted just as good as it looked. She made my Baby Shower cake too and I loved it. Natasha had so many adorable ideas for party decor- she is really good at things like that. It was such a joy to give something so wonderful, memorable, and sweet to a friend. Michele DOES NOT look like she is going to be pushing out a baby very soon, but you can def tell that Jack is in there now- so precious. Made me miss being pregnant, but then I got over it- hehe. I'll be doing that again in a few years, so no rush. I'm gonna enjoy having Kelson first. Michele got many wonderful presents and had a great turnout. Kelson got Jack a "Jimmy Buffett" lullabies CD- I think it was perfect! I hope she gets good use out of it like I have from my Beach Boys and Eagles lullaby CD's. If you guys are looking for a unique baby shower present- you need to check out the "artist" lullaby CD's. They are great for music lovers. Well I would say that everything went great. Michele got us some cute monagrammed tote bags as a thank you. Good luck Michele..Now... comes the fun part... :)

Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Cave

Jason and I took these pics a few weeks back, but I wanted to share since they were sooo cute. She is such a princess. The weather was GORGEOUS so we decided to treat it like a beach day. Kelson was sooo cute in her beach hat- from Belle- and her little Lion King Attire- from mommy and daddy. I remember buying that outfit- with matching shoes- before Kelson was born thinking it was gonna take forever for her to fit in that. But it sure did go by fast. Its just as sweet as I hoped it would be. She has a thumper onesie with matching shoes too.
We took random pics of Kelson in the cave, around the cave, and sitting on the dock of the cave :) She is so photogentic and as you can tell- a HAPPY baby.

See more pics of Kelson at the cave here

What a busy week

well as you know, Kelson said her first word- Dada and then a few days later her first tooth broke threw. How exciting. She's had a busy week. Lucy had mentioned that it took a while for Jason's teeth to come in, so I'm gonna check his baby book and see exactly how long. She also said that when Jason was getting his braces put on- they had to pull some of this baby teeth. OUCH. I tried to get a picture of her tooth coming in, but it was really blurry and she was not excited us digging her mouth. Such a drama queen :)

Kelson's First Word...

DADA!!!! :0) Jason is VERY proud.
Yesterday while Kelson, Jason, and I were down at Memere's house (I was uploading new songs to my ipod, Jason was in the kitchen helping decide on dinner with Jeannette, and Kelson was in her bouncy bounce) we were all doing our thing and Kelson was doing her normal GRRRRRRAAAAA- that she likes to do. Its like a growl from a dinosaur or something. She has been doing this for the last week or so. But this time she was saying Dadaaaaaa daadddaaaaa.. we all stopped what we were doing all turned to look at her- we all started laughing and she continued doing it. It was sooo precious. I went into the livingroom and said- are you saying dada? What happened to mama? (joking with her of course) and she just smiled and growled and said daddddaaaa again. It was precious. I'm so excited that she is finally starting to use words. Although she has NO IDEA what it means, well I don't think so at least, its cute to hear her say it. I've always heard that's usually the first word to come out. So at 7 months and 1 week old- she has said her first word.
This morning as I was getting ready for work and Jason was in the shower, Kelson was entertaining herself and just finished her bottle and started saying Daddaddd again, so i grabbed my cell phone and managed to capture her. She's so smart.
The signing hasn't really picked up much, but we are constantly doing it. Maybe in a month or so she will be saying a few words and signing back to us :)
Enjoy the video...COMMENT IF YOU'D LIKE :)

Just call us J LO...

No, not because of our big ole butts ;)hehe. My girlfriend/co-worker and I are taking online classes to become Professional Bridal Consultants (aka Wedding Planners). No its not a scheme to meet Matthew McConaughey, although I wouldn't mind meeting him, he's so freaking hot! Anyways, we have been talking about possibly one day opening our own wedding planning biz so we are both taking the class and WHEN we pass we will get a career diploma from Penn Foster. Boeing is even paying for it- what a cool place :) Saved us $800/each. I already attained my masters on Boeing's dime a few years back and in return they are giving me 100 shares of stock in Oct for doing so :) Can't lose on that deal!
Anyways, Randi and I are going strong on this! She is way ahead of me on the classes, I've slacked, but I'm trying hard to catch up. They let you do it at your own pace, so its very convenient. Penn Foster sends you the study guides to start and as you take online tests, they send you the next round of work. Randi has assisted a few brides with their weddings, free of charge, to gain experience. She really believes this is something she could pursue. She even got a call back for an interview for a wedding coordinator's assistant. She is SUPER excited and I truly believe she will get it. Its only part time so she can still work at Boeing and pursue this on the side. After we finish the class, we are going to take the test to become a member of the ABC (Association of bridal consultants). Wish us luck :) Soon we'll have to order our headsets and feed a cute toast to the best man via ear monitor!

Hitting the Scale...

Well I won't give you my starting weight- hehe- but I have lost 2 lbs so far :) Its hard to go to the gym consistently when Jason is home, but I'm gonna make myself. Its only an hour or so a day and it will pay off in the end. I want to lose a total of 35 lbs, so I have 33 left to go! hehe! Also, my pre-pregnancy buddy Stacey still has a gym membership left(way to recruite friends and get free months) :) So we are gonna start going together again- at least 3 days a week. Then I can do my additional workouts on my own. Its gonna be a lot harder to get back to where I was because of how stretched out my stomach became from being prego, but I'm gonna do my best.

Also, I'm now on Chapter 27 of Harry Potter. Almost done. Its getting SOOO good. I've slowed down cause I've passed Jason so i'm letting him catch up :)

Stacey is having a cyst removed on March 20th, so please be sure to say a little prayer for her that all goes well. It should be an easy procedure, but every little prayer helps.

Bunny time...

Well I figured since I was late getting the St. Patty's picture out, I would be early getting her Easter picture out :) Jason, Kelson, and I went to the Madison Sq Mall yesterday to get Kelson's picture made with the Easter Bunny. I wasn't sure what she was going to do, but still being so young, i figured she would do pretty well. Got her all "spring"ed up and put on a cute little dress and headed to the mall. She took a little nap on the way- which was good- so I knew she would be in a good mood. Well we got there and there wasn't a line at all- just one mother with her two kids, so we jumped in line, and prepped her for the picture. Let her stare at the Easter Bunny for a while- she was SOOO funny looking at him/her- hard to tell-hehe. I WISH we were allowed to have our camera/video camera to capture her expressions but oh well. There was a family walking by- who was OOOING and AAWWing over Kelson's dress, shoes, tights, and earrings. Two little girls were like "Mommy look". They wanted to stop and come see her- it was SO cute. Jason and I were just gleaming with pride. Kelson really is an adorable little girl. Most people refer to her as a babydoll cause of her rosey cheeks and blue eyes. Anyways, it was our turn -I was SOOO excited and I stuck her on the Easter bunny's lap and she just looked up and turned back at the camera and smiled. It was PERFECT. I looked and approved the picture and couldn't believe how quick it was. Jason and I were like "Its a wrap" :) So i purchased 4 3x5's and a CD so I could upload the picture and order an 8x10 on kodakgallery.
We went directly to the Disney Store after visiting the Easter Bunny. OF COURSE. hehe. We got Kelson a winnie the pooh easter bunny stuffed animal and a thumper pin to put in her "pin" book to remember that day. We went around to some other stores- bought myself a new phone cover- very cute, Jason traded in some old Xbox 360 games and bought a new one, we got a garlic pretzel with cheese and Kelson LOVED it, then we went to Children's Place- they were having a sale. Another place that Kelson was popular. Its so much fun buying clothes for her. Esp with the cute spring stuff thats coming out. We had made our rounds and was ready to go, so we headed back to the car and was loading up and UH OH.. I couldn't find the Easter Bunny pics ANYWHERE. I was freaking out and thought- OMG- I have to go through all the stores again to find it. I remembered having it last in the Disney Store- I showed the lady behind the counter Kelson's pic, so I went there first and there was a new shift in. I explained to the NEW lady behind the counter and OMG- it was there. I must have laid it down after I showed her the picture to pay. Thank goodness cause thats all the memory we had and I had already changed her and we paid $40 for that stuff. Thank you Lord. We went to eat at Longhorn after our visit to the mall. Kelson sat in a highchair- with my jacket and her blanket as support and played with her toys and I fed her some food and milk. She was having a great time. She got sleepy- and so did I- so we headed home- and her and I read a book and then she went night night and daddy went out to see a band for St. Pattys Day. What a wonderful day with my family!!!!

Happy Belated St. Patty's Day...

Sorry i'm late posting this, but I got busy yesterday. We had SOOO much fun with this photo shoot. Kelson was such a good model and was so happy. We got some adorable pics of her. I hope everyone had a wonderful St. Patty's Day. We ate our corned beef and cabbage Sunday night- compliments of Emeril Jason. It was DELISH. Corned beef and cabbage is one of my fav dishes. Jason went out to see "Cross Canadian Ragweed" lastnight at Crossroads with some buddies of his, but I stayed home since I had Kelson and had to work the next morning. Miss Responsible- I know :) hehe!
Visit our kodakgallery for more pics of "St Patty's Day Kelson". There are some adorable shots! That's my girl! :)

Hanging with Friends...

A girlfriend of mine, Stacey- my old workout buddy- brought her kids over to visit. They are sweet kids. So cute too. It was neat to see Kelson around other kids and one that is younger than her. Lola is 3 months younger and almost the same size as Kelson :) Charlie is 4 or 5 - I can't remember. He is a sweetheart. He wanted to take pics with Kelson and we asked him if she was his girlfriend and he said YES- AAWWWW. I hope one day that Kelson and Lola become good friends and go shop, work out, and hang out together like Stacey and I do.

Happy 29th Bday to ME :)

In Alabama you never know what the weather is going to be like... I woke up Sat morning (my bday) to snow on the ground. It was AWESOME. Then.. I got a happy bday phone call from my niece singing to me. It was so sweet. Keri had sent me a present a few days back and wanted me to open it with her on the phone. I got a wallet that I wanted (that she accidently told me she was going to get by including me on the e-mail) :) and a gift card to Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I LOVE that place. There was another package to open. I initially wasn't sure what it was (looked like a little notebook) and then I opened it and there was a letter that stated- READ ME- so I started reading it- With Keri on the phone- and it said that she was starting to save up money for this year to take me to EUROPE for my 30th bday next year!! I started crying- I couldn't believe it- I've always wanted to go there. The note was in a passport holder. What an awesome treat and I don't mind turning 30 AT ALL now :) What an awesome sister I have. Course I have lots of people that want to join in the fun. Thank you sis.
About that time- Kelson woke up so I let Keri go and went to get Kelson. She was in her "happy morning" mood, so I knew it was a good time to go take pics. I left her PJ's on and just added a few layers and grabbed her raincoat- only coat I had that was thick enough. So we went outside and I took a few pics of the yard, eers, and Kelson. As i was walking out, Lucy and Theana, were coming out with the dogs, so they assisted me. I got a few shots of Kelson sitting on the cave dock in the snow. Lucy mentioned she had a winter coat, so she grabbed it and we got a few more shots. Kelson didn't have much of an expression- she was cold- haha! A few times she reminded me of the little boy from A Christmas Story movie. "I can't put my arms down"- hehe! She was a great sport. We were heading inside to Memere's house to warm up and drink some hot chocolate and BAM... eers ran off- got off his chain somehow. So I passed Kelson to Theana and started running after eers. He DID NOT want to come back - he just kept going and going. So I was freezing since I just had a little jacket on. I finally caught up to him and had to take off my jacket and tie it around his collar like a leash, so by this time I was really cold. There was NO WAY i was carrying a 60lb dog all the way back home. Luckily lucy brought the car and picked us up. WHEW- what a morning. All this happened before 9am! :)

So anyways, I went and worked out and got a well needed pedicure. It was a nice and relaxing day. I got home and Jason had just arrived from being on the road, so that was nice to have him here for my bday too. We pretty much laid around and played with Kelson. Went to eat at Red Lobster, then went to Hog Wild 2 to meet up with friends. We had a great time, went back to the cave, and ended staying up till 8:30AM! The sun was shining so bright and we all couldn't believe it. The night had FLOWN by. We were playing games, dancing, singing, listening to music, etc. It was a lot of fun. Jason and I went to bed and woke up around 1:00pm- Lucy had errands to run and brought Kelson to us, luckily, she was tired, so I laid her down for a nap, and she slept another 2 hours- and so did we :) Got up around 4 and took a shower and got dressed to go eat dinner at Lucy's house. They made lasagna- it was very good. Mom and dad came over and we had dinner, opened presents, and ate ice cream cake & played the Disney bday song. I got some really cool things for my bday. Thank you EVERYONE for making my bday a special one!

BIG 30 next year- BRING IT ON!!!! :)

Thanks to Aunt Jeannette- I put Kelson's picture in at parents.com for the "cool hat" contest. This is the picture I submitted. People vote on it for fun, but they do actually choose a winner after a few weeks of entries. You can win money or something. I just wanted to post Kelson on her cause she is so darn cute. Funny thing- I e-mailed my sister to put her kids on there and she had already done it. Thinking alike. You can check it out and even vote at this website.

Strike a pose....

Daddy and I are in "taking pics" mode. Esp with our fantastic new camera. As you can tell- from all the albums I've recently published. Daddy's fav outfit on Kelson is NAKED. She has so much fun and its almost like she's sighing when you let her free. She plays with her toys and eats her hands most of the time. She is so much fun. Here are a couple of "posing" shots. Also, Jason stuck the cowgirl bib on her and she looked sooo cute. If only we combined the two outfits ;)

KELSON MODELING

Happy 3rd Bday Elliot!!! Thanks for inviting us!

Kelson went to her first bday party. Her cousin- Elliot, Louise and Chris's grandson turned 3 years old. They had party hats, balloons, cake, pizza, and presents- all the things a 3 year old would love. Elliot was SOOO excited when I arrived, cause I was running late- working out :)- so when I arrived he was allowed to open presents, so right when mom and I walked in he screamed- "Aunt Kelly is here- PRESENTS!!". It was soooo cute. He was so ancy & ready to bust open the presents. I watched him open his presents and all the clothes- he just threw over to the side- so funny and typical. Since his mom and memere would say- this is from so and so- he would open it, look at it, and try to hand it back to the person who gave it to him. It was hilarious. They would say- No its for you- for your bday. He was like Oh ok- and then start on the next thing. He got a ball and bat from someone and Kelson was playing with. She was a natural and born to be an athlete. Jason and I got Elliot a few cars from the movie "Cars"- I've never seen a more INTO cars like this little boy. He carries his cars with him EVERYWHERE. Its so cute. Kelson bought him a big ole gravedigger truck. He loved all of his presents. I kept jokingly saying that it was sweet of them to decorate early for my bday. His bday was the 7th of March.
Around 8:30 (Kelson's bedtime) she started getting cranky and ready to leave. Nanny and I were playing on the piano, so I asked she come see me and let her bang on the piano- she LOVES it and she even placed her fingers out individually to play each note. It was adorable. She stopped being fussy too. Her Aunt Nin has taken some lessons, so I'm hoping the days she babysits she will work with Kelson on it. Kelson's Aunt Deena also plays, but isn't local, but maybe on visits she can teach her too. There are some pics in the slideshow link below.

I'm soooo anxious for Kelson to start talking cause that leads to SINGING. I'm so excited about the months to come.

Spring is NEAR...

We had a beautiful day a few weeks ago and Jason decided to take Kelson outside and play and take some pics. She played in the middle of flowers, a tree, and leaves. She makes the cutest faces and you can tell that she is a happy girl by her expression. I've gotten her used to accessories since she was a newborn, so a hat, hair thingy, or glasses don't bother her a bit. I'm glad to cause i'm all about accessorizing. Keri started Annabelle out really young and she LOVES to dress up, so I'm hoping the same will happen with Kelson. I can't wait for springtime so we can go to parks, play outside more, and watch movies on the big screen. Having Kelson here will be such a NEAT experience! I'm trying like heck to get her to see the Easter bunny. Not sure how she is gonna react, but I think she'll just stare and want to gnaw on him. Kelson still has no teeth coming in- she is going to follow her daddy's footsteps in that area too. She is starting to sit up more and more on her own. I'm sure she will be crawling pretty soon.

Spring Pictures

Biscuits, Toast, n Apple Juice...

Kelson is a HUGE fan of the biter biscuits and melba toast. When she is gnawing on it and i'm eating she smiles so big. I think she likes the fact that she is "eating" solid food. We tried giving her apple juice a few weeks ago and she didn't really care for it, but now she really likes it. Hasn't got the concept down of holding the sippy cup, but that will come in due time. Everytime she eats her bis/toast she ends up with it ALL OVER HER FACE (see picture above). She is such a sweet girl and really showing her personality lately.

Bob and Lucy's Bday...

Bob and Lucy surpringly have the same bday so they get to celebrate together EVERY YEAR. Pretty cool. So this year, we went to Indigo Joe's to eat and celebrate. Bob was 58 and Lucy was 59. We had a really good time and some of Bob's Ruggby buddies came by (Ruggby's as in the bar, not the sport) hehe. We had a great time. Jason was on the road, so he couldn't join in the fun :( Kelson didn't have much time to sit down- with all the holding and playing she did with everyone. Here are some pics from that night...

Trying to catch up...

Sorry I've been slacking, so much going on. New job, back to the gym, almost 7 month old :) Lots to do!!! I have TONS of pictures to upload- just have to find the time to do it. My bday was AWESOME. I'll write all about it soon.
